Heraldry: A shield within a depressed circular incision. Gentleman’s arms with impalement. Very worn
Condition fair. Much wear but (2012) inscriptions readable.
The slab is partially covered by a plinth in the altar, erected . 1865 by Preedy who erected the reredos. The plinth may be early 20th century as only small sections are visible, they being covered by the altar plinth.

Left shield – lozenge (for Mary Cotton) a chevron between 3 cotton skeins impales a fess with roundels between 2 animals statant
Right shield – a chevron between 3 cotton skeins, an escutcheon in pretence
As of 2/3/4, partially covered by altar plinth
Simple but pleasing leaf decoration in corners
Condition fair. Such surface wear especially on top lines of inscription and heraldry. Remainder of what can be seen is much better

This stone (+3 in a lesser way) is remarkable for the stone-cutter’s use of abbreviated words whereby The become TE etc.

North is bordered by mosaic
Condition very good. No spalling or delamination. Some edge chipping though small. No cracks. Remarkably good considering its age!

Condition good. No cracking, minimal wear making inscription mostly easy to discern
As with ledgerstone 8 + 9 to the east, 10, 11 + 12 are surrounded by mosaic dating from late 19c
