BLAZON = A Saltire counter vair between four mullets (hill)
Condition good to fair. Almost all the attractive lettering is legible. R.H. edges seem to have worn out rendering dates questionable. The carver has left no margin for error!
From Benefaction board in tower: Elizabeth Hill, will dated 1680 gave £20 in a stock, the interest to be distributed each May 1st to 12 poor widows at the discretion of the Minister, Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor

SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF
THOMAS LASLETT
OF THE CITY OF W…
WHO DIED DEC…
… AGED 5… YEARS

There is a very plain and indifferently carved tablet immediately above the slab to Jane Emerson (d. 1810) Thomas Laslett (d. 1860) aged 50, Thomas L (d. 1824), Sophia L (d. 1836)

Sophia was the wife of Thoas Laslett senior
A descendant, William Laslett who lived at Abberton, Worcs, was, in spite of being very eccentric, a great benefactor of Worcester. He built the Athanceum (no demolished) and Laslett’s Almshouses where the city seal was situated – they are still there on this site
