The cock features on the Blackstonefamily crest. Sir William Blackstone became Recorder of Wallingford, was Mr Justice Blackstone, author of ‘Commentaries on the Laws of England’
There is and elaborate memorial to Sir William Blackstone on the outside south wall of the nave.
