The stone lies immediately below an inlaid wheel cross design set in the floor which historians have puzzled over but may imply the entrance to a vault as it is adjacent to this stone.

below this are two full length figures, a male in armour and a female in contemporary dress.
both figures stand on a Latin inscription.
below this are two small rectangles of differing sizes, one square contains 5 males the other 7 females;
below the squares are two small shields.
Lettering is incised Gothic capitals and lower case with some abbreviations

Roman capitals and lower case. Archaic spelling. Some letters stylised. Long ʃ is used.
Palgrave, with the Ulster badge; impaling A chevron between three wolves’ heads couped Howe.
Crest: A lion’s head erased affrontée Palgrave, above
a helm with mantling. (ref a)
Condition very good – some damage to edges. Altar dais encroaches on South side of stone but no lettering affected.
