Bas-relief of a shielf surrounded by foliate pattern above the inscription
Incised and archaic. The lettering particularly on the left hand side is badly worn
Sable, a fess between three mullets argent.

Lettering on brass plate fixed by screws to the ledger, in a position previously occupied by a larger plate. Offset to the right and slightly above the centre
Caps, with letter ‘V’ used for ‘U’

Anthony Le Grys was buried in St Leonard’s Church, Billingford, in 1598. This brass has been recycled, formerly marking the burial of Thomas Le Grys, whose name appears in the Burial Register, who died in 1692. It was replaced, upside down, in 1830. (Ref.a)
