“Hic jacet Dorothea relicta Jacobi Sessions, S.S.T.P., Ecclesiarum de Chawton et Houghton in agro Southamptoniensi quondam successive Rectoris, filia natu minima Ricardi Baskett de Apsecourt in Vect. Insul. Arm. annis, pietate, et charitate plena, de terris migravit Nov. 9, anno aetat…..Dom. 1683 per 18 annos sejunxit mors amantissimos, at non repudiavit.”
Translation: “Here lies Dorothea widow of James Sessions SSTP successively rector of Chawton and Houghton churches in the ?vicinity (literally field) of Southampton, the youngest daughter of Richard Baskett of Apsecourt in the Isle of Wight, knight, full of years, piety and charity who died on Nov. 9, in the year of her age (?Sunday) 16 83 for 18 years death (?took) her most loved but did not repudiate (it)”

On the south wall of the nave is a white marble monument in the form of a cartouche dedicated to members of the Whincop family:
Thomas Whincop, late of London, Turkey Merchant, who died 12th March 1701, aged 70 years.
Judith Whincop, his wife, who died 15th April 1708, aged 59 years.
Thomas Whincop, their second son, who died 1st April 1694, aged 20 years.
James Whincop, their third son, who died 1st June 1691, aged 6 years.
Edward Whincop who died 1st July 1687, aged 7 months.
